JG Island Beach is the southern end of Huntington State Beach at the north side of the Santa Ana River Channel. This relatively unknown spot is next to the popular state park is frequented by surfers and bird-watchers.The beach is just a quarter mile long due to two waterways cutting through on each end, Santa Ana River and the Talbert/Huntington Beach Channel. Most of this “island” west of Pacific Coast Highway is blocked off in an area called the Least Tern Preserve, but you can walk all around this fenced area. JG is not actually an island as it is connected to land inland of Highway 1.
